About Our Guest Speaker Jennifer “Birdie” Shawker currently serves at Connally Memorial Medical Center as a Director of Spiritual Care and at Unity of Boerne as their social media director. Along with Rev. Jay Mulky, she co-founded and facilitates Path Lighters, an online spiritual community that gathers to intentionally pray and meditate weekly. Birdie also serves as a first responder chaplain providing crisis intervention stress management in the Alamo area. Birdie served at Unity of San Antonio for eight years as the Communications Coordinator. Prior to this, she served as Youth and Family Ministry Director at Unity Spiritual Center, San Angelo, for 10 years. She also has served at Unity Spiritual Center Corpus Christi. She has completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education through Baptist Hospital System and another unit through R.C. Freedom Ministries. She completed a program of study through the Institute of Leadership and Lifelong Learning International (ILLLI) where her mentor was Rev. Temple Hays. She was ordained a New Thought Minister by ILLLI in March of 2023. Birdie is a Registered Nurse and has worked in many settings, including hospitals, home health, and psychiatric care for over 25 years.
